Dr Katalin Brown, known by almost everyone as “Dr Kay”, grew up in the rural Hungarian countryside surrounded by the beauties of nature, kind people and plenty of silence. It was here she developed a love and appreciation for animals at an early age. On the advice of her father, she started her studies in veterinary medicine and graduated from the University of Veterinary Sciences, Budapest, in 1982, with honours.
Shortly after graduation she moved to Jamaica with her husband, and veterinary school classmate, Dr Graham Brown.
Together, in 1991, they started Animalcare Veterinary Clinic, which later became Animalcare Veterinary Hospital, and it is here in this hospital, she has been engaged in small animal veterinary practice ever since.
Her favourite areas in small animal practice are soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery. She loves birds, so not surprisingly also has a special interest in avian medicine and surgery.
When she is not at the Hospital, Dr Brown enjoys listening to classical music, hanging out with her cats and dogs, cooking, and hoping for some free time to once again pursue the hobby that perhaps is closest to her heart…, sewing.
